Abu Dhabi (UAE): Pakistan Business Professionals Council (PBPC) Abu Dhabi held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently. A press release stated that the conference was attended by a large majority of its corporate and individual members.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tarmzi, chaired the annual general meeting. The President made his opening remarks. He addressed the members stressing the promotion of trade and investment between Pakistan and the UAE. In this regard, he appreciated the role of the Council and the efforts made by the Executive Council of the Council, led by its Chairman, Dr. S. Caesar Anis.
In addition, the Ambassador conveyed his message to all the business community and professionals of the UAE to join the PBPC platform to connect and enhance their resources that have been serving the Pakistani community in the UAE dynamically since the last 20 years.
The Chairman of the Council, Dr. S. Qaisar Anis presented the Council’s achievements report, and highlighted the important events and activities that were implemented during the period 2022-2024, as they numbered 80 activities in 2022, 85 activities in 2023, and 66 activities in 2024. He presented a history of the Council since its establishment in 2004. The Council will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its effective presence in the United Arab Emirates on November 9, 2024, as it plays an effective role in serving the Emirates and the Pakistani community in the United Arab Emirates. He thanked the members of the Board of Directors for their teamwork, and the professional members of companies and individuals for their continuous support and encouragement.
Moreover, he thanked Dr. S. President Qaiser thanked the Ambassador for his guidance, cooperation and support. He said that the Council will continue to work under the chairmanship of Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tarmzi to increase membership and enhance trade, commerce and investment in Pakistan. Afaq Ahmed, Deputy Head of Mission, and Ali Zeb Khan, Commercial Advisor to the Dubai Consulate, also attended the meeting and spoke at the meeting.
The Chairman of the Council, Dr. Qaiser Anis, also extended special thanks to the Council’s Patron, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, on behalf of all Council members, for his patronage, guidance, and generous support since 2005.
Dr. Qaiser Anis thanked the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce for its guidance and continuous support to government agencies, including the Ministry of Economy, the Department of Economic Development, and the State Bank of Pakistan, as the Council worked with them to organize various events and webinars. Successfully.
He also conveyed that considering the business councils working with Pakistan Association of Dubai (PAD) and Dubai and Sharjah Business Councils, it is an excellent platform and opportunity to network and serve our country and the UAE.
The Council’s office bearers presented reports on the activities of their areas – Vice President for Legal Affairs and Coordination Badr Ezz Zaman Ahmed and Vice President for Program Eng. Iqbal Naseem. The audited financial statements were also presented to the Council for the years ending on December 31, 2022 and 2023, along with the external auditor’s reports, and approved by the members.
The Board members elected the following Executive Board members for the next biennium based on the recommendation of the Board’s Nominations Committee and by a unanimous vote of the members: Anjum Rasheed, Daniyal Hashmi, Kamran Atif, Muhammad Iqbal Naseem, Dr. Muhammad Farhan, Dr. Musa Sheikh, Mustagab Ahmed, Rizwan Ahmed Feqar, Sabahat Imran, Syed Ijaz Hussain Bukhari.
The members of the Council approved the appointment of Dr. Syed Qaiser Anis as Honorary Vice-Chairman of the Council based on the recommendation of the Nominating Committee.
The General Assembly appealed to all members of the Pakistani community (businessmen and professionals) to stand together under the umbrella of the Council to strengthen relations with the UAE authorities and other communities, interact among themselves and work together for the sake of Pakistan in strict compliance with the UAE. Finally, Dr. Qaiser congratulated the newly elected Executive Council for the period 2024-2026, and thanked all the former chairmen, all former board members, corporate members and members for being one of the progressive councils in the UAE. .
