The first reactions to “Venom: The Last Dance” have emerged, with members of the press calling the Sony Pictures film a “feast for fans”, “huge” and a “fitting conclusion” to the trilogy.
Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock, known as the symbiote symbiote from the Spider-Man comic series, in Venom: The Last Dance. According to the official log, “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Pursued by both worlds and with the network shutting down, the duo are forced to make a devastating decision that will bring down the curtain on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”
Joseph Deckelmeyer of Screen Rant wrote on X that the film “takes you on a wild, exhilarating ride from start to finish.” “It’s a fun popcorn movie that reminds me of comic book movies from the early 2000s. The action is great and it’s a tribute to action movies from the ’80s. There are a lot of funny moments,” he continued. “Are there plot holes and some problems with the story? Yes. (Is) fun? And also yes.”
Digital Spy editor Ian Sandwell described the third installment as “the most entertaining in the trilogy”, adding “It’s very much a funny and sweet road trip as Eddie and Venom live out their Thelma & Louise escape dreams, including car karaoke and dog rescues. You might find yourself… Feel emotional.
Along with Hardy, Venom: The Last Dance also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lou, Alana Ubach, and Stephen Graham.
Kelly Marcel, who wrote and produced the first two “Venom” films, directed “The Last Dance” from a screenplay she wrote. “Venom 3’s” story was developed by Marcel and Hardy and produced alongside Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal and Hutch Parker. Joe Caracciolo Jr. is executive producer.
Atom Review praised Hardy’s performance as Eddie Brock/Venom, writing on Another Venom, one of the best comic book movies ever! A fitting ending that defines what’s next.
In a later post, Atom Review wrote: “A cinematic treat of incredible scope. A feast for fans and a true love letter to honor the franchise. It delivers great humor, gritty action and a compelling story.”
“Venom: The Last Dance” hits theaters on October 25. See more first reactions below:
“I’ve watched #VenomTheLastDance and it’s the most cinematic and biggest #Venom movie yet. The Eddie Brock and Venom dynamic is at its strongest in this game and the stakes So Much higher. I enjoyed this a lot…the final chapter is BONKERS! Is it perfect? Nah, far from it. However, it is leaps and bounds ahead of #Venom and has a more comprehensive plot than #VenomLet ThereBeCarnage. The #SpiderMan4 rumors have been blown out of proportion IMO, but #VenomTheLastDance left me wanting more from these two. And Knull (mostly).” – Josh Wilding (@Josh_Wilding)
“#VenomaTheLastDance It sees Tom Hardy doing his best to get an enjoyable conclusion befitting the franchise. With heaps of set pieces that range from the bizarre to the crazy, this doesn’t get in the way of the toxic action. Take it for what it is. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the flow of this rampaging road movie. — Simon Thompson (@ShowbizSimon)
“#VenomaTheLastDance is the best of the “Venom” movies – the insanity has been greatly intensified as well as the heart. It’s not perfect but it’s very entertaining and there’s a giant monster that chews people up and sprays blood from the back of its head. Beautiful nuts. — Drew Taylor (@DrewTailored)
“Venom The Last Dance is a whimsical road trip with friends that pushes the PG-13 rating as far as it can go. Simply put – Venom 3 is a fun cinema classic. Turn off your brains and let #Venom eat ’em up.” – Chris Killian (@chriskillian)
“I think #VenomTheLastDance is the best of the three, while still being incredibly bad. It’s weird, and watchable, because he’s willing to try anything. A symbiote? Sure. Ms. Chen’s dance sequence? Why not. I laughed several times.” times, but this trilogy achieved little “Sigh” – Sean O’Connell (Sean_OConnell)
