Pakistan condemned the deadly attack in Türkiye on Wednesday that killed at least five people, describing it as a cowardly act.

The attack occurred at the headquarters of the Turkish Aerospace Industries Company near Ankara, where two attackers killed five people and injured 22 others. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that they heard gunfire followed by a strong explosion.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the killing of the attackers, describing the incident as a terrorist attack. He added that among the injured, three were in critical condition.

The attackers were captured on television footage as they stormed the TUSAŞ facility.

In a statement issued by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry earlier today, the government offered its “heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims” and expressed its hope for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The statement said that Pakistan “reaffirmed its firm support for Türkiye’s efforts to combat the scourge of terrorism,” stressing the country’s solidarity with the Turkish people during this difficult time.

President Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the attack, expressing his solidarity with the government and people of Türkiye.

He added: “We offer our sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this cowardly attack.”

President Zardari also stressed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations poses a global threat and that Pakistan, having suffered the scourge of terrorism, understands the pain and suffering caused by these atrocities.

He stressed that terrorists are enemies of peace and humanity, and reiterated the need for united efforts by the international community to eliminate the scourge of terrorism and ensure a secure future for all countries.
