Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said efforts to revive Pakistani steel mills are making progress, with an online meeting scheduled next week between Pakistani experts and representatives from Russia, which will be followed by a field visit of a Russian delegation to Pakistan. steel mill.

This came during a meeting with Minister Murad and Russian Ambassador Albert Khorev, who visited him at the Prime Minister’s residence. Ambassador Shah was accompanied by his Secretary Rahim Sheikh, while the Russian Ambassador was joined by Russian Consul General Andrei Fedorov, Third Secretary Pavel Yamanov and Attaché Ekaterina Zygach.

An official statement issued by Sindh CM House on Monday said that the development represents a major progress in the restoration of the factory.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Shah emphasized the historical importance of Pakistan Steel Mills, which was established in Karachi in 1974 with the assistance of the Russian government during the presidency of Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. “The steel plant was a gift from martyr Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and it provided employment opportunities to people from all over Pakistan,” he added. He said the PPP had a strong commitment to reviving the factory.

According to the Russian ambassador, the upcoming online meeting will include discussions on the technical aspects of the project, including the participation of a representative of the Sindh Industries Department.

After that, the Russian delegation will visit the steel plant to conduct further evaluations. Both CM Murad and Ambassador Khorev agreed that a modern factory would be built to replace the old infrastructure, with the hope that this revival would restore employment opportunities for its workers.

They also discussed potential investment opportunities in Sindh. The Ambassador expressed the interest of Russian companies in investing in public transportation in Karachi, specifically through the introduction of electric buses. CM Murad instructed Secretary Rahim Sheikh to coordinate with the Ministry of Transport for necessary cooperation in this initiative. The statement added.

He further stated that Ambassador Khorev also expressed his desire to establish Russian cultural centers in different cities within Sindh to promote art, music and language, thus strengthening cultural relations between Russia and Pakistan. Minister Murad assured him that the Ministry of Culture would coordinate with the Russian Consulate in Karachi.
