Security forces killed 12 terrorists during separate intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kish district of Balochistan, the army’s media wing said on Wednesday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on November 12 and 13 that security forces carried out IBO operations in the Miranshah area of North Waziristan after the presence of terrorists was reported.
He added, “During the implementation of the operation, the Special Forces effectively clashed with the Kharijite positions, which led to eight Kharijites being sent to hell, and six Kharijites being injured.”
Separately, Pakistan’s intelligence agency said at least four terrorists, including a “high-value target,” were killed during an intelligence operation in the Kish district.
On the night of November 12-13, security forces conducted a search operation in the general area of Baljattar of Kesh district regarding the presence of terrorists, the statement said.
During the course of the operation, an intense exchange of fire took place between the security forces and the terrorists, resulting in the killing of “four terrorists, including the leader of the terrorist network, Sanaa Barrow.”
“He was the central recruitment agent, especially for suicide bombers, for the so-called Majeed Brigade in Kish district and was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies,” he added.
ISPR further said that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the dead terrorists.
The security forces have also launched clearance operations to eliminate any other terrorists found in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan areas, the army’s media wing said, adding that the forces are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism in the country.
It is worth noting here that the third quarter (July-September) of 2024 witnessed a sharp rise in deaths from terrorist violence and counter-terrorism campaigns, with acts of violence rising by 90%, according to a report issued by the Center for Research and Studies. Security Studies (CRSS).
722 people, including civilians, security personnel and outlaws, were killed, while 615 others were injured in as many as 328 incidents recorded during the period under review.
Nearly 97% of these deaths occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan – the highest percentage in a decade, and more than 92% of incidents of terrorist attacks and security force operations were recorded in the same provinces.
Total deaths in three quarters of this year have exceeded the total deaths recorded for all of 2023; The number of deaths rose to at least 1,534 in the first three quarters, compared to 1,523 in 2023.
At the same time, terrorist groups continue to reorganize and strengthen their ranks. Terrorist or insurgent groups did not claim responsibility for most terrorist attacks, likely due to tactical reasons, according to the report.
