The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday introduced a new payment origination system that will enable safe, efficient and easy-to-use online payments for taxpayers, eliminating the need to physically visit a bank.
In a statement, the Tax Collection Authority said that the system is guided by the government’s vision to modernize Pakistan’s tax infrastructure.
“The FBR is strengthening its commitment to developing tax administration and enhancing revenue collection through advanced digital solutions,” she said, adding that the system, called ePayment 2.0, is available within the IRIS 2.0 portal.
It will be possible to access the system directly from taxpayers’ bank accounts via online banking, ATMs and mobile banking, eliminating the need for physical bank visits.
The FBR said E-Payment 2.0 represents a major advance in revenue management, covering a wide range of taxes, including income tax, sales tax, federal excise duties and withholding taxes.
The authority explained that taxpayers used a separate electronic payment system outside of IRIS 2.0 previously, requiring them to switch between portals. However, FBR has now introduced a unified and improved user interface that can be accessed directly through IRIS 2.0.
“By generating a unique Payment Voucher Identifier (PSID), it enables quick and convenient payments for both registered and non-registered taxpayers. When payment is completed, a Computerized Payment Receipt (CPR) is issued via email and SMS, saving “For official confirmation and easy access to future use within IRIS 2.0,” the statement said.
The release also stated that through a secure and accurate multi-step workflow, the system allows taxpayers to create a PSID, complete payment through ADC channels and receive a CPR in real-time, and can be accessed for future compliance needs within IRIS.
“To enhance transparency and accountability, it includes a comprehensive PSID lookup feature, allowing taxpayers to easily retrieve and confirm payment records. This level of automation and integration reduces errors and delays, significantly improving the tax payment experience and supporting the FBR’s vision of business-friendly systems,” she highlighted.
