Shows and talks to give Prime Video prominence in Goa trendy blogger


Boman Irani’s The Mehta Boys will have its Asian premiere this weekend at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, marking one of the few places where it will be released theatrically before heading to streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

The company will have other prominent spots during the festival with the world premiere of its non-scripted Telugu series ‘The Rana Daggubati Show’, an informative panel discussion on November 22, and a music performance at the festival’s closing ceremony in November. 28.

Irani’s directorial debut, “The Mehta Boys,” is an emotionally charged drama that explores the complex and turbulent relationship between a father and son who are forced to spend 48 hours together under difficult circumstances. It premiered at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival last September, where it won Best Feature Film there.

The IFFI screening will be attended by Irani and a crew including Avinash Tiwari, Shreya Chaudhary and Pooja Saroop, writer Alexander Dinelaris Jr. and producer Danish Irani.

Created and hosted by South Indian superstar Rana Daggubati (“Bahubaali,” “Vettaiyan”) and executive produced under the banner Spirit Media, the eight-episode series titled “The Rana Daggubati Show” has been described as a look at… A refreshing take on celebrity talk shows.

The show will premiere at the festival on Thursday before moving to Prime Video on November 23, where future episodes will be uploaded every Saturday. The expected guests of the show are: A host of guests, including Dulquer Salmaan, Naga Chaitanya Akkineni, Nani, Rishab Shetty, Siddhu Jonnalagadda with Sreeleela, SS Rajamouli with Ram Gopal Varma.

Musicians Nikita Gandhi, Digvijay Singh Pariyar, Mami Khan and others from Prime Video’s ‘Bandish Bandits’ season 2 will perform for Jugalbandi at the IFFI concluding ceremony.

The event will also be attended by lead cast Ritwik Bhowmik and Shreya Chaudhary, producer Amritpal Singh Bindra, director Anand Tiwari and Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals, Prime Video, India. A live music performance will follow the unveiling.

Shilanji Mukherjee, Director and Head of SVOD, Prime Video, India, will address the audience at a special event at IFFI, while Manish Menghani, Director, Content Licensing, will be part of Friday’s panel to highlight Your Project: Strategies for Film and Series Creators .

Other speakers include Jyoti Deshpande, CEO, Viacom18, director Nikhil Advani, and Shobha Sant, CEO, Creativeland Studios, with director Richie Mehta moderating the discussion.
