Disney’s R-rated action-comedy “Deadpool & Wolverine” was a hit at the box office this summer, and the creative team praised the company for allowing it to make plenty of jokes about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actors’ personal lives and many taboos. Others often. Topics. But there was one line the company asked Ryan Reynolds not to say.
In interviews prior to the film’s release, Reynolds confirmed that one Deadpool joke had been cut from the film. Disney’s FYC online portal has released the official script in which the original joke was written. This moment occurs after Deadpool learns that Magneto is already dead, so he angrily breaks the fourth wall: “Damn! Damn! What can’t we even afford another X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with this Mickey Mouse penis in annular”.
Director Shawn Levy previously spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the line.
“There was only one line in the entire movie that we were asked to change,” he said. “We made a pact, Ryan and I, to go to our graves with that line, but I will say it was replaced with an equally shitty line of dialogue about Pinocchio shoving his face up Deadpool’s ass and starting to lie like crazy. I was like, ‘Ryan, that’s your alternative line in response to “Can we clean it up?” That’s Ryan Reynolds for you, daring to the max.
