Ghee and cooking oil prices are skyrocketing across Pakistan – Trendy Blogger

Islamabad: Prices of basic food items, such as ghee and cooking oil, have risen by up to 20% over the past two months, leaving families experiencing increasing financial pressure.

This rise comes despite government claims of a downward trend in inflation, which has raised concern among citizens who are already suffering from high costs of living.

According to reports, the price of ghee has increased by Rs 30 to Rs 120 per kg in various cities, while cooking oil prices have increased by Rs 50 to Rs 150 per litre. Retailers confirmed that the rise is affecting families across the country, as prices vary depending on the brand and quality.

The retail price of ‘A’ quality ghee now ranges between Rs 505 and Rs 559 per kg. In Lahore and other urban centres, the cost of ghee has risen to Rs 350 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of mid-range ‘B’ quality ghee ranges between Rs 440 and Rs 500 per kg.

Cooking oil prices have followed a similar path, with shop owners attributing the increase to rising raw material costs in the international market. Wholesalers also cited global supply chain issues as an important factor in higher prices.
