Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has instructed Chief Collectors of Customs to coordinate with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to keep designated bank branches operational on Saturdays. This directive aims to facilitate the collection of duties and taxes and their transfer on the same day to the Central Bank of Pakistan.

As per the instructions issued on Wednesday, the FBR emphasized the importance of maintaining smooth operations of tax and duty collection on weekends. Senior Collectors have been mandated to ensure effective coordination among relevant stakeholders to implement the measure until further notice.

This move reflects FBR Bank’s commitment to improving revenue collection operations and ensuring uninterrupted financial operations, especially during a period of increased financial management requirements. By keeping approved bank branches open, the Fed aims to enhance efficiency and reduce potential delays in remitting collected revenues.

The directive emphasizes the critical role of cooperation between the FBR, SBP and NBP in achieving fiscal objectives and simplifying the tax collection framework. This initiative is expected to enhance the government’s efforts to effectively achieve its revenue targets.
