President Zardari called on China to invest in various sectors of the Pakistani economy – Trendy Blogger

Karachi: President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday called on China to invest in various sectors of the Pakistani economy.

President Zardari made the remarks while speaking to a Chinese business delegation headed by Yang Yundong, Chinese Consul General in Karachi.

The President said that this will enhance trade and economic relations between the two brotherly countries. In order to strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations, he stressed the need to improve communication between citizens of the two countries, especially between investors and companies.

The Chinese delegation indicated its interest in investing one billion dollars to build a medical city in Pakistan in order to improve the country’s health care system.

The delegation also expressed its interest in investing in various sectors of the Pakistani economy, especially agriculture, livestock, energy, transportation and manufacturing.

Welcoming the delegation, the President said that Pakistan and China have common interests and common views on important issues, in addition to enjoying historical and deep-rooted fraternal relations.

The President said that Pakistan and China have been good friends for decades and his vision was to develop Gwadar Port into a regional trade and economic hub that will not only improve regional connectivity but also enhance regional trade and economic cooperation.

President Zardari said that Pakistan welcomes Chinese investors and prefers to do business with China. He said that Pakistan is committed to facilitating and supporting Chinese investors in all possible ways.

The President stressed that Chinese language courses have been introduced in Sindh, which would be an important step towards strengthening people-to-people and cultural ties between Pakistan and China.

The meeting was also attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and provincial ministers.
