A Chinese company invests $350 million to establish 3,000 charging stations for electric cars in Pakistan – Trendy Blogger

The Pakistani government has signed a partnership agreement with a leading Chinese company to invest $350 million in establishing up to 3,000 electric vehicle charging stations across the country, with the aim of promoting electric mobility and reducing dependence on fuel imports, according to Bloomberg News. Media reports.

Malik Khuda Bakhsh, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Energy of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, announced the initiative during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry. He revealed that the electric car stations will be located in strategic locations along the highway linking Peshawar to Karachi.

The project will start with an initial investment of $90 million to establish the stations, followed by an additional $250 million allocated for manufacturing by February 2025.

This initiative is expected to enhance Pakistan’s energy independence, protect foreign exchange reserves, and help reduce environmental pollution.

Bakhsh highlighted the developments witnessed in the electric transportation sector, including the establishment of FV fast charging stations. He also noted the growing interest of Chinese investors in Pakistan’s energy sector, with a delegation expected to visit the country soon to explore opportunities in areas such as the Thar coal field and alternative energy projects.

The Sindh government assured its full support to investors and pledged to assist in documentation and facilitation of smooth business operations to ensure the success of this transformative initiative.
