Adam Sandler returns for Netflix’s sequel trendy blogger

Adam Sandler returns to the golf course in the first teaser for Netflix’s “Happy Gilmore 2,” nearly 29 years after the original film turned him into one of his most beloved roles.

Netflix and Adam Sandler dropped the first teaser for “Happy Gilmore 2” early on Christmas, with the streamer streaming two NFL games live on the platform for the first time ever.

Professional golfer Sandler returns in the sequel, coming to Netflix in 2025, along with some old and new pals. Julie Bowen returns as Happy’s love interest, Virginia Venet, as well as Christopher MacDonald as rival golfer Shooter McGuffin. Newcomers to the sequel include Bad Bunny, The Substance star Margaret Qualley, comedian and longtime Sandler collaborator Nick Swardson, NFL star Travis Kelce, Scott Mescudi, also known as rapper Kid Cudi, and Benny Safdie, who He directed Sandler in Uncut Gems.

Kyle Newacheck, who directed Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in Netflix’s Murder Mystery, is directing Happy Gilmore 2. The sequel was co-written by Tim Herlihy from the original film. Dennis Dugan, director of the first film, will executive produce, with Jack Giarrapoto and Robert Simmonds producing.

In the first film, Sandler’s Happy Gilmore, who is out of control, needs anger management, and is a star hockey player, is on a mission to do his grandmother’s taxes. He decides to enter a professional golf tournament in hopes of winning the big cash prize. This leads the unlikely hero on an atypical adventure that even leads to a full-on fistfight with “The Price Is Right” host Bob Baker.
