Oscar nominations have been postponed to January 19, and voting has been extended by two days trendy blogger

The deadline for Oscar nomination voting has been extended by two days due to the Southern California wildfires.

Voting opened for the academy’s nearly 10,000 members on January 8, and was originally scheduled to close on January 12. The deadline is now January 14. The nominations announcement, which was scheduled to be announced on January 17, has been moved to January 19. Conan O’Brien will host the 2025 Academy Awards, which will be held on March 2.

The Academy sent an email to members Wednesday afternoon detailing the history of the changes from CEO Bill Cramer. “We want to offer our deepest condolences to those impacted by the devastating fires throughout Southern California,” the email read in part. “So many of our members and industry colleagues live and work in the Los Angeles area, and we are thinking of you.”

Additional scheduling changes described in the email include:

-The feature film shortlist screening scheduled for Wednesday evening in Los Angeles has been postponed until later in the week.

– L.A. Sound Brunch, makeup artists and hairstylists in Los Angeles and New York City have been canceled on January 11.

– In-person VFX Bake-Offs in Los Angeles and the Bay Area In Los Angeles and New York on January 11, the Los Angeles and Bay Area VFX Bake-Offs have also been cancelled.

The voting extension comes as a slew of premieres and events in the Los Angeles area have been canceled or postponed amid the horrific fires.

Amazon MGM Studios and Universal Studios were the first to cancel the scheduled Tuesday night premieres of “Unstoppable” and “Wolf Man.” Meanwhile, Paramount and Max canceled Wednesday’s premieres of Better Man and The Pitt.

The SAG Awards nominations were also revealed live Wednesday morning with Joey King and Cooper Koch in a press release.

The AFI Awards Luncheon on 10 January has been postponed, as has the BAFTA Tea on 11 January. The Critics’ Choice Awards, which were scheduled to be held on January 12 in Santa Monica, have been postponed to January 26.

“The 30th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards have been postponed from January 12 to January 26 due to the catastrophic wildfires sweeping through Southern California,” a CCA statement issued Wednesday said. “The rescheduled event will remain at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and will be broadcast live on E! and worldwide. It will also be available on Peacock the following day.

“This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community,” said Joey Berlin, CEO of CCA. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all those affected.
