Islamabad: National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and DP World have officially announced a strategic partnership to modernize logistics and delivery systems in Pakistan, which will help set new standards for improving the logistics industry.
A press release issued here on Sunday said that the historic cooperation between NLC and DP World will serve as a catalyst for economic development, paving the way for a bright future for Pakistan and the region through enhanced trade and connectivity.
An event was held in Karachi to celebrate the partnership, where Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World Group, was the chief guest of honour. Senior officials from NLC and DP World, government representatives and members of the business community were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem expressed his great pleasure in partnering with the largest logistics organization in Pakistan.
Describing the collaboration as a milestone for the logistics sector in Pakistan, he said that NLC’s extensive regional experience and DP World’s global capabilities will lay a strong foundation for the logistics industry resulting in direct benefit to the business community.
He said that DP World is known globally as a leader in smart trade and logistics, and this collaboration will bring significant investments to Pakistan.
He said that the partnership will help create job opportunities, increase the volume of trade, and enable the business community to compete in global markets.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem went on to say that the cooperation will herald a revolutionary shift in the logistics industry. He added that global standards and practices will be introduced in Pakistan.
The partnership includes the rapid development of modern logistics parks in Pakistan. In addition, container movement from Jebel Ali Port to Karachi and other regional countries has already begun.
In his welcoming speech, the Director General of NLC stated that the partnership with DP World is an honor for NLC. He expressed confidence that the cooperation will enhance innovation in the transportation sector and position Pakistan as a regional business hub.
He said the partnership would attract foreign direct investment and create thousands of job opportunities. He added that enhancing infrastructure and connectivity through this cooperation will further simplify trade.
Under the agreement, two joint companies were created. The joint logistics company will work to enhance supply chain efficiency in various industries by utilizing the latest facilities and best practices.
On the other hand, the joint land shipping company will modernize the transportation system and enhance trade with neighboring countries via land routes.
