On a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Travis Kelce discussed how great it was to work with comedy legend Adam Sandler. Kelce will appear alongside Sandler in Netflix’s “Happy Gilmore 2,” which is scheduled for release in 2025. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is cast in a currently undisclosed role. In a recently released teaser, he appears to be playing a country club employee.
“This was a dream come true,” Kelsey said. “I thought SNL was going to be the pinnacle of my acting, show business or entertainment career. It was just getting to work with Happy Gilmore himself, Sandman and Happy Productions, outside of the series.
Although he didn’t get top billing by any means, Kelsey said he had “some” scenes in the movie, and that filming “Happy Gilmore 2” was a “heavy load” of work.
“They are very professional but a lot of fun to work with,” Kelsey added. “I felt like I was working with Andy Reid (Kansas City Chiefs coach) in the acting world. (Sandler) is just as great off screen as he is on screen. It was a dream come true. It was great.”
Outside of Kelsey and Sandler, “Happy Gilmore 2” also stars Ben Stiller, Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Jacqueline Sophia London, Benny Safdie and Nick Swardson.
While details of the sequel are still under wraps, the original “Happy Gilmore” follows a sharp-eyed hockey player who turns to the world of professional golf to save his grandmother’s house from foreclosure. The film was directed by Dennis Dugan in 1996 and grossed $41 million at the global box office against a budget of $12 million.
