Saif Ali Khan undergoes surgery after Mumbai home invasion attack trendy blogger

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after he was attacked with a knife at his Bandra residence early on Thursday morning. The 54-year-old actor suffered multiple injuries during an encounter with an intruder at around 2:30 a.m. local time.

According to police officials, Khan discovered the intruder in his apartment on the 11th floor and tried to intervene during an altercation between the suspect and house staff. The confrontation resulted in Khan sustaining several stab wounds, with one wound reported to be close to his spine.

A team of specialists performed an operation that took two and a half hours, with additional plastic surgery performed. Hospital representatives confirmed that Khan is now in stable condition.

The Mumbai Crime Branch launched a parallel investigation along with local police, deploying seven teams across the city. Authorities are currently reviewing security footage and questioning the home’s staff.

“There was a quarrel between the actor and the intruder. The actor is injured and being treated. The investigation is ongoing,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam told news agency ANI.

Khan, a three-decade veteran of Indian cinema, hails from one of Bollywood’s most prominent dynasties. The son of cricket star Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore, he made his screen debut in 1993 with the film ‘Parampara’. His breakthrough came with the films “Yeh Dillagi” and “Main Khiladi Tu Anari” in 1994, which made him a pioneering figure in Indian cinema.

Throughout his career, Khan gained fame for his performances in films such as “Dil Chahta Hai” (2001), “Kal Ho Naa Ho” (2003), and “Hum Tum” (2004), for which he won the Indian National Award for Best Actor. “Omkara” (2006) and “Tanhaji” (2020). He has also ventured into digital streaming, starring in Netflix’s ‘Sacred Games’ and the Prime Video series ‘Tandav’. His last release was ‘Devara Part 1’, one of the biggest hits of 2024. The actor is married to Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan, with whom he recently returned from a family holiday in Switzerland with their two children.

Khan’s representatives issued a statement confirming the incident: “There has been an attempted robbery at the residence of Mr. Saif Ali Khan. He is currently in the hospital having surgery. We ask the media and fans to be patient. “It’s a police matter.”

On Thursday afternoon, Khan’s team issued another statement: “Saif Ali Khan has been discharged from surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in the recovery phase and doctors are monitoring his progress. All members of the family are fine and the police are investigating the incident.
