ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) distributed Rs97 million to 132 victims of the Jeddah scandal during a special ceremony held at its headquarters in Islamabad on Wednesday.
NAB Vice President Sohail Nasir was the chief guest at the event, and was joined by NAB Prosecutor General Ehtisham Qadir Shah, NAB Director General Rawalpindi Mirza Irfan Baig, Director Ilyas Qamar, and other officials.
In his speech, Vice Chairman Nasir stressed the commitment of NAB officers to recover looted assets from the public. He pointed out that large sums of money had been recovered and returned to the victims over the past two years, stressing the office’s keenness on this national responsibility.
“We are making every effort to recover every penny for the victims and return it to them,” he said, acknowledging the efforts of the NAB Rawalpindi team in securing funds from the Jeddah City project.
Earlier, NAB Rawalpindi Director General Mirza Irfan Beg spoke about the difficulties faced in the recovery process. He assured the victims that all legal requirements had been met and efforts were continuing to help victims of other fraudulent schemes in Rawalpindi.
