Dubai (United Arab Emirates): Extreme Hangout Dubai, in cooperation with Earth Warrors and the Pakistani Youth Forum, gathered climate defenders, change makers and society to highlight the importance of climate work and enhance sustainable solutions during an event held at the Pakistani Association in Dubai (pillow).
The event started with a symbolic ceremony for the transplantation of trees, led by Hussein Mohamed, Consul General and Dr. Faisal Ikram, President of Pad.
Hussein Muhammad stressed the existential crisis imposed by climate change, stressing its improper impact on weak countries such as Pakistan. He said: “Pakistan is ranked among the ten countries most vulnerable to climate change despite its contribution of less than 1 % in global greenhouse gas emissions. The destructive floods of 2022 are a testimony of the challenges we face. Pakistan remains committed to be part of the solution. However, global solidarity, climate financing, and technology transfer are necessary to address this crisis.
The event witnessed the presentation of entrepreneurship stalls for innovative environmentally friendly solutions, major speeches and discussions by experts, activists and young leaders who participated in insightful discussions on climate work strategies and the importance of collective efforts.
The ceremony also included shows and artistic performances that highlighted the beauty of nature and the need to preserve it for future generations.
The event also highlighted the decisive role of youth in the leadership of climate work. The Consul General of the Pakistani community in the United Arab Emirates encouraged work as global climate challenges in Pakistan by telling stories, social media and community participation to raise the level of awareness and bring about change.
This event has shown how collective efforts, at the local and global levels, can address important environmental issues. The event concluded with an invitation to global solidarity and work to ensure a sustainable future for all.
