A group of artists and filmmakers held the protest on Thursday in Berlin Boutemsammar Blatz, with the launch of the Berlin Film Festival, to call for the release of David Konyo, the Israeli actor who was one of the hostages that Hamas kidnapped on October 7, 2023, from Nir Oz Kibbutz.
Cunio is also the subject of the documentary “A Message to David”, by director Tom Shufal, which is first shown on February 14 in the Berlinale Special Section.
The director of the Berlin Film Film Festival joined the subsequent vigil that was held on the red carpet in Berlinaly Palaast, where a picture of Konio was held alongside German actors Christian Berkel, Andrea Sawatzki and Ulrich Matisis.
The group behind The Vigil, called Breat David Home, has now posted an open message with more than a hundred of the two positions, directors Michelle Franco and Ari Folman, Jennifer Jason Lee, German stars Iris Berben and Andrea Sawatzki, and prominent producer Max Wiedmann.
“Since the Berlin Film Festival is held in Berlin for the seventy -fifth time, we would like to remind the festivals that there are a prisoner with relations with the festival, which is still being held inside the Hamas tunnels somewhere in the Gaza Strip, the message said.
“Mr. David Konio starred in the movie“ Youth ”in 2012, who won a special prize in Berlinali that year. He was a special guest at the festival and must have great memories of him.
The letter explained that “like hundreds of other Israelis, David was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, from his home, with his 3 -year -old wife and their 3 -year -old. Their house was burned on the ground. David’s wife and her children were released after 52 days in captivity. A brother kidnapped David Ariel also with his girlfriend Erbl. She was recently released after 15 months of isolation.
With the start of the Film Festival, Berlin becomes full of life and art, we call for the immediate release of David, his brother Ariel, and dozens of Israeli hostages who are being held in Gaza tunnels. One day, we pray that David can visit Berlin and enjoy it again.
