It is time to “check the Czech” with the start of the new audiovisual box.

“This is what he says to my shirt. You must” check the Czech Republic “because we are ready. There are many good producers, so let’s go,” vratislav šlajer, president of the audiovisual producers Association.

During the Berlinale Committee, the CEO of the Audio Audiovisual Fund presented Helena Bizdak Farkaova to the new legislation. The country’s production incentive will now rise to 25 % – unlike 20 % – and 35 % for digital production and animation.

She said, “It does not matter whether it is about a large or small screen.” With the maximum of each project to 18 million euros ($ 17.3 million), the entire process will be simplified to two parts of January 2026.

“It should be easier,” added Bezděk Fraňková, with more selective support categories: “We will support the small screen (projects) in development and production, and we have a category called” infrastructure “: that will include cinema and film festivals, education. Then we have a category One for video and animation games.

Once approved by the government, detailed guidelines can be in place “in the middle or in the second half of 2025” you can find more about the new box here.

Meanwhile, the Czech Republic still has a lot for its progress, especially in the Brandov Studios, the CEO of Peter Tishi has argued. The studio recently welcomed “The Empress” and “The Wheel of Time” – “One of the largest projects that were photographed in the country” – and “NOSFERATU”, which got Beatrice Brentnerová Oscar Nom for production design.

“If you decide where you can film your project, the experience of all these craftsmen may be useful to you,” Tishi said. “Now, we shoot (miniseries)” Blade Runner 2099. “All these services companies and these craftsmen are ready.”

Despite the competition from Hungary or Canada, Barrandov Studios invested “approximately one billion CZK” ($ 41.2 million) to build new stages. “It will bring us to 70 stages, because we have two sites. It is time to make our industry better.”

Vratislav šlajer is also “very happy” about the new “Better” box.

“Our box has been updated for 10 years and has really brought stability to the system. The Czech audiovisual sector has grown: There are many new talents and new curricula for storytelling. We all know that now, cinema and small screen coexist. It is great to support the series.

The presence of a stable box and stable tax incentives is “good news” for this industry.

“Just good reactions,” he said.

“Of course, there are things that we must solve, and expansion is one of them. I expect more talents and more international cooperation – not only on a financial basis, but also creative. I think the big thing is that we now have this special section for animation and video games. It’s it The necessity for the future.

And note that the fund’s budget may double in the future.

“There will be more money. (The initiative) has been supported across the political spectrum. Although we have elections for this fall, there is this agreement that the audiovisual sector is very important.”

While the Czech Republic is still “at the top of the list” when it comes to shooting sites “because of craftsmen, incentives and locations,” Tishi said.

The industry realizes that the investment bubble has ended.

“These large American platforms were spending a lot of money. Now, the numbers decreased and only 2023 strikes accelerated. But there are still many opportunities, because the” bubble “was huge. Even the decline of 40 % leaves you with a lot of money.”

“We have talent, we have experience, and we are able to provide a highly productive value and stories that can be understood worldwide. We are ready to be a competition. You can mainly shoot anything you want in the Czech Republic. If the site is not present, you can go to Barrandov Studios and its construction.

As long as you remember one thing. “Be creative, but not much. Bezděk fraňková said, especially if you apply.
