NTDC achieves a landmark in the Scada-II project with partial activation

The National Recitation and Use Company (NTDC) has reached an important landmark in the Scada-III project with the partial activation of the new supervisory control system and data (SCADA) at the National Center for Energy Control (NPCC), Islamabad.

The system, which was partially broadcast on February 20, 2025, was opened by the administrative director of NTDC Engr. Muhammad Wasim Yonas alongside senior officials.

During briefing, chief engineer Scada-III, Engr. SUMAIR MEMON informed the management that 75 % of the project has been completed, with full implementation during the year. The currently 65 newly installed Scada system is merged, with the remaining stations connecting with new connection links.

At the opening ceremony, NTDC Younas’s administrative director described the achievement as a proud moment for the organization. He congratulated the relevant teams and emphasized that the Scada-II project will greatly enhance the reliability and efficiency of the network by enabling actual time monitoring and controlling energy transport networks. He urged the project team to complete the remaining work on the specified date and assured them full support for the administration in overcoming challenges.

In addition to spreading Scada, the project includes the implementation of the EMS system and the GMS (GMS) system, designed to improve energy distribution and generation. These systems will improve resource use and reduce operating costs. The project also includes the installation of 3600 km of optical ground wires (OPGW), with a completion of 3300 km already, and the deployment of communications infrastructure, including SDH, DPLC, PabX, and the reserve communication relationship between NPCC and the Backup control center (BCC).

It is scheduled to be completed in 2025, these promotions will enhance communications and data transfer via the power network. The event was attended by Deputy Administrative Managers. Qaiser Khan and Engr. RASHEED A. Bhutto, along with other NTDC officials from Hitachi, CMEC and Sage Automation.
