Islamabad: The Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Best Iqbal on Tuesday, chaired a high -level meeting to finish the finishing touches on the GWADAR Port operation plan and address the main challenges that hinder its full function.
A press release said that the meeting participated in the chairmanship of the Minister of Communications, Abdul Kan and the Minister of Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, while the Minister of Trade Jam Kamal participated on the Internet.
The session was attended by the trustees of the relevant ministries, the CEO of the Penate and Private Partnerships (P3A) and the other main stakeholders.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to review the critical issues that hinder the activation of the GWADAR port, the development of a strategic strategy for its activation, and to ensure the effective implementation of the plan once it is approved by the Council of Ministers.
In his speech to the meeting, the Minister of Planning, Professor Al -Best, affirmed the government’s commitment to making Jawadar a regional commercial center.
He stated that the Prime Minister has directed an immediate activation of the port of Jawadar, and all stakeholders must adopt a proactive approach to accelerate progress.
He also stressed that the economic feasibility of the Guadar Port was directly linked to providing opportunities for living for local communities in Balochistan.
“The success of Gaadar is linked to the creation of job opportunities for her people. Rapid urbanization, the development of information technology gardens, free zones, tall buildings, and improved infrastructure are necessary to convert Gawadr to the city of Haditha.”
AHSAN IQBAL highlighted the strategic importance of the Central Asian Republics (Cars) in the activation of GWADAR.
He directed the relevant ministries to place GWADAR as a commercial center and a competitive car transport. “We need to deal actively with cars and make a convincing value proposal to use GWADAR as their favorite trade road,” he said.
To facilitate this, DG National Logistic Corporation (NLC) was assigned to provide viable options to connect the Central Asian trade with GWADAR.
The minister stressed the importance of strong security arrangements to ensure the operations of the non -welded ports.
He also directed the relevant departments to locate comfort areas along the Karachi-GWADAR path and ensure the mobile phone network coverage to improve the connection.
In addition, the organic infrastructure, the WAQAS ANWR Planning Committee was set the task of identifying short -term and long -term measures and formulating an action plan for immediate interventions.
A dedicated working group was also suggested about moving to rapid initiatives linking Cars with the port of GWADAR.
