Pakistan, Denmark discusses $ 2 billion in the marine sector

Islamabad: The Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs, Mohamed Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, held a high -level meeting with the Ambassador of Denmark in Pakistan, Jacob Lenolf, to review the progress of the Danish investment in the marine sector in Pakistan and explore ways for more cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the implementation of the two billion dollars investment plan under the Memorandum of Understanding that took place last year between Pakistan and Denmark, according to a press release on Wednesday.

Investment aims to update the marine infrastructure in Pakistan, enhance the efficiency of the port, and enhance sustainable practices in the shipping and logistical services sector.

The Minister stressed the strategic importance of this partnership, while highlighting how Danish experience in marine technology can contribute to Pakistani economic growth and global commercial competitiveness.

The discussion also covered possible future investments in green shipping, renewable energy solutions, and capacity -building initiatives to strengthen the maritime workforce in Pakistan. Both characters reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening a long -term and beneficial relationship between the two countries.

In addition to economic cooperation, the meeting also focused on strengthening cultural relations and enhancing tourism between Pakistan and Denmark. Both sides admitted the rich cultural heritage of their countries and discussed ways to enhance people’s exchange.

They highlighted the scenic landscapes and historical sites in both countries, including the northern Pakistani regions, the landmarks of the ancient civilization of the Endos Valley, and the rising castles in Denmark and the Vikings heritage.

Ambassador Jacob Lenolf expressed his strong interest in Denmark in expanding its mark in the Pakistani maritime sector and repeated his government’s commitment to support sustainable and innovative solutions.

Minister Junid Anwar Chaudhry welcomed this interest and stressed the full cooperation in facilitating Danish investors.

The meeting concluded with a positive note, as the two sides agreed to accelerate the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and explore more opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment and cultural exchange, and enhance the long friendship between Pakistan and Denmark.
