Executive Producers Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Mendy Kaling, Dave Patel offer their star to the global influence campaign #Standwithher, inspired by the documentary director Nisha Bahja “to kill the tiger.”
The campaign launched on Wednesday in New York City aims to combat gender -based violence around the world through a partnership between Pahuja, NGOS EQUALITY NOW, and Equimundo and Manengage Alliance.
“A gender -based violence is a global crisis, but often, it is still hidden in the shade,” Chopra Jonas said in a statement. “I am honored to support the #Standwithher campaign, which is inspired by the strong documentary of Nisha” to kill the tiger, “to help pay a meaningful change.”
The documentary, which is flowing on Netflix, tells the story of Rangit, the farmer in JHARKHAND, India, who fights for justice for his 13 -year -old daughter after she was sexually assaulted by three men. Despite the confrontation of social ostracism, the threats of death, economic difficulties, and class prejudice, the family is persistent and ultimately secures a prominent rule.
The #StandWithher initiative has created three main goals: enabling survivors of sexual assault and sex -based violence to seek justice; Create a culture of shared responsibility that encourages men and children to become allies; And prevent gender -based violence through education and change in social narration.
The campaign will start with a tour of the United States in “The Killing of the Tiger”, which extends to the major cities including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and Washington, DC, will coincide in New York in the sixty -sixth session of the committee to put women in partnership with optimal women.
Pahuja, whose film won 29 awards including the recognition in Toronto, Palm Springs, and the candidacy of Oscar 2024 for the best documentary feature, shared her vision: “As film makers, we understand the strength of the story, especially documentaries, and its individual ability to unite people about a problem. The campaign will cooperate with more than 60 partners and aims to establish educational initiatives of 1.2 million students in American schools from 25,000 to 50,000 American schools within two years.
