The National Shipping Company in Pakistan sells two ships from Aframax after 20 years of service

The Pakistani National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) completed the sale of two ships for old age, Mount Lahore and Jabal Quetta, after they reached the end of its operating life for 20 years.

The decision was approved by the PNSC Board of Directors on February 26, 2025, with the company officially Notification Shareholders through the Pakistani Stock Exchange (PSX).

“The Board of Directors of the sub -companies, which are entirely owned by the national shipping companies in Pakistan, agreed / signed a memorandum of an agreement to sell their Aframax crude oil tanks,” read the notice sent to PSX.

Aframax ships are named after the AFRA, which was developed by Shell Oil. The cost of these oil tanks is less than 120,000 tons. Its typical dimensions range from 200 to 250 meters (656 to 820 feet) in length and 32 to 44 meters (105 to 144 feet).

The ship was owned by PNSC companies, Lahore Shipping Private Limited and Quitta Shipping Private Limited.

The sale is compatible with international marine regulations that restrict old ships to reach multiple ports and oil stations in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. PNSC stated that in order to maintain the ability of her fleet, she plans to get new ships to replace those sold.
