PIA is a workforce to 7000 after job cuts

IslamabadPakistani International Airlines (PIA) reduced the workforce to 7,000 employees, following a major traditional initiative aimed at improving operational efficiency. This was confirmed by the Federal Defense Secretary, Zaib Jaafar, during the hour of questions in the National Assembly on Wednesday.

Jaafar explained that the reduction of the workforce was part of a larger restructuring process, which witnessed a decrease in PIA from 18,000 to 7,000 employees. I also participated that the National Transport Fleet now includes 213 aircraft.

During the session, MP Tahira Aurangzeb raised concerns about the percentage of PIA staff to a plane, and wondering why the airline continues to maintain a large number of employees for its fleet. In addition, Dr. Shazia Siba Aslam Somero expressed her concerns about the highly introduced local roads, specifically between Sukur and Crachi. She pointed out that ticket prices for this road were expensive, such as flights to Dubai.

In response to these concerns, President Abdelkader Patel directed the parliamentary secretary to prepare a detailed report dealing with issues and submitting it to the House of Representatives.
