The Ministry of Maritime Affairs has informed the National Assembly that about 1,100 acres of the land of Karachi Port (KPT) has been infringed on more than several decades, due to the large extent to political effects and other contributing factors.

In a written response to a question from Mna Malik Shakir Bashir Awan during the hour of questions, the ministry stated that multiple operations were launched to combat encroachment under the Prime Minister’s directives to restore state -owned lands. These operations were jointly performed by KPT, the government of Sindh, the Port Security Force, the Pakistan goalkeeper (Sindh), and the Sindh Police in five major areas and several smaller locations.

As of March 2025, approximately 60 acres of lands that have been infringed since the campaign began on January 21, with the ongoing efforts. KPT has also implemented measures to protect the recovered land and ensure its use in the future.

The Qasim Port Authority (PQA), which oversees its anti -infringement cell, has also informed continuous efforts to protect land holdings. In 2022, 17 acres of M/S Zaviar Enterprises were renewed through a process by PQA Security and local law enforcement.

However, other areas remain in the conflict. There are twenty -two acres in Bijaar Kalmati Goth under the litigation (CP No. 1004/2013), except for any enforcement procedure until the court ruling is issued. Another 7.84 acres was allocated in the Golshan-Panazir town scheme, temporarily for people affected by floods in 2010 and remains busy despite the repeated efforts to evacuate the land.

To face these challenges, PQA works closely with the bond government. A meeting chaired by the Karachi Commissioner on January 6, 2025, officials from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Malir, the Ministry of Control of the Indus, and PQA. A later joint survey was presented by Mukhtiaarkar from Ibrahim Haydari to the Deputy Commissioner. Legal procedures are now being conducted to restore the land in cooperation with the Civil Administration and the Police.

Sindh also conducted a separate field survey to assess the illegal occupation on KPT and PQA.
