The Málaga Film Festival unveiled winners from many of its complaints this afternoon, as “Deaf” by Eva Libertad has moved away with the four best awards in the festival, including the best actress (Maryam Garlo), the actor (Alparo Servanz), the audience award and the best image.
The first Libertad feature is a short expansion that Goya nominated with Nuria Muñoz, starring her sister Garlo, a famous deaf actress. The film tells the story of Angela (Garlo), a pregnant deaf woman, and Hector (Servantes), her partner in hearing. Pregnancy brings to the surface her concerns about motherhood and how she can communicate with her daughter. The girl’s arrival generates a crisis in the spouses and leads Angela to confront the raising of her daughter in a world he did not make for her.
The famous director “A Thief’s Daughter” Belén Funes, “The Exiles”, won the Málaga Special jury award, the Best Director Award and Best original cinematic award. The Catalan feature tells the stories of Annabel and her mother, Delia, who is sad for Julian, the father of Annabel. The evacuation notification compels them to leave their home in Barcelona and return to the Olif orchards in Jain, which they previously left looking for a better future.
Another winner of three tanks, Gemma Blasco from the movie “France”, “France”, which was first shown in SXSW earlier this month, was honored for the best actress, supporting the actor and editing. “France” tells the story of a young woman trying to overcome a painful experience, which finds a channel for her anger on the stage.
The first single appearance was honored by Vinko Tomičić, “The Dog Thief”, as the best feature in Latin America in the year in Málaga. Cast starring Alfredo Castro, the film follows an orphan teenager with shoes shoes, Martin (Franklin Arrow Hoasco), and he begins to seek to approach Mr. Noufua, a single tailor in the city who is believed to be his father.
