Lahore: In a move that can greatly affect the developing electric car sector in Pakistan (EV), the Honda Atlas, the largest wheel factory in the country, is preparing to launch the first electric bicycles by June 2025, according to sources close to the company’s plans.

This strategic decision refers to the design of the Honda Atlas to enhance its dominance in the motorcycle market in Pakistan, where it currently has a wonderful market share of 85 % and has a strong existence in export in many countries.

Although the electrical wheel market in Pakistan is still in its early stages, where high prices, limited shipping infrastructure, and consumer doubts are expected to provide an entry of Honda Atlas with a batch that affects the need. Despite government incentives such as EVS tax cuts, electrical bikes make up less than 1 % of total motorcycle sales in 2024.

Industry experts suggest that the Honda Atlas can revolutionize the local EV market by taking advantage of its firm reputation and a strong local manufacturing network. The broad production capabilities of the company, which include annual production of about 1.3 million motorcycles, depends on translated supply chain, with more than 95 % of the parts locally. Besides the research and development department at home, the Honda Atlas gives the unique ability to design electrical bikes designed for local conditions.

On the global level, the two -wheeled electrical sales flourish, especially in the Asian markets such as India and China, where reasonable prices and government support prompted EV. However, developments in EV-such as “Byd Blade Battery” and rapid car charging systems-risk of companies that depend on imported components. Although these innovations have not yet reached the two -wheeled sector, experts expect that companies that import electrical bikes that have previously been challenges with the development of battery technology will face.

“The Honda Atlas needs to focus on local production instead of importing groups, given the rapid changes in EV technology,” a source in this field indicated, highlighting the need for strategic investment in local manufacturing.

It is expected that the electric bicycles coming from the Honda Atlas will feature a 48 -watt battery with the time of charging from six to seven hours and a group of about 65 km per shipment. Factors such as the weight of the contestant, terrain and driving habits will affect the scale. The mobile charger will provide the comfort of shipping at home or in the office.

Although pricing details have not been revealed yet, the sources indicate that electrical bicycles will be a little more expensive than the current local models, which reflects the use of high -quality ingredients. Competitors such as Jolta Electric and Skylectric offer bikes between 150,000 rupees and 350,000 rupees.

The primary production goal of ATLAS Honda is determined at 25,000 units, with an annual product estimated at 8,000 units after that. This cautious approach indicates that the company is optimistic, but it is aware of the challenges and opportunities in the emerging EV market.
