Ankara: The 10 % low -low tariff by the United States over Türkiye can prefer Turkish exporters.
In addition to the tariff of the foundation line that came into effect on Saturday, US President Donald Trump announced higher novels on goods than 57 larger partners, including China, the European Union, Vietnam and Japan, which is scheduled to start next week.
Vice President Sephdi Yilmaz told CNN Turk that the decision not to impose such fees on Türkiye “seems to be in our favor until now, to reach the American market.”
“There was already a tariff for iron, steel and aluminum (exports from Türkiye to the United States). When (the United States) imposed a similar tariff on others, there was an equation there, it was in our favor,” he added.
Yilmaz said that as an importer, Türkiye will also benefit from the low international goods prices, including oil, after Trump’s announcement.
Turkish Minister of Commerce Omar Balla said on Friday that the Turkish government wants to negotiate with the United States to raise 10 % in the new definitions.
They were called “the best in worse”, given a higher tariff for many other countries.
