The orders of the immediate retrieval of veterinary injection are below the required level

The Pakistan Drug Regulation Authority (DRAP) issued an urgent alert to summon to obtain a group of veterinary medicine, which is considered below the required level, after multiple complaints received from the Drug Control Directorate (DDC) Punjab.

In a notification issued on Saturday, DRAP said that the relevant product –Zaktyl-20 injection (For veterinary use only), the loader registration number 052317 and the zka077 batch number – ZKA077 – was manufactured – M/S Zakfas Pharmaceuticals (PVT) LtdIt is located on Busan Road, Multan. The injection contains Tylosin Turrate 230mg/100ml, which is an antibiotic used in animals to treat bacterial infections.

According to the laboratory tests conducted on samples by DDC Punjab, the product failed to meet the required standards, which prompted the alert.

DRAP has warned that the continuous use of this batch is below the required level can lead to the failure of animal therapy, an increased risk of complications, and may also contribute to the emergence of antimicrobial resistance – an increasing global health threat.

The authority directed its national organizational field power and drug control departments in provinces to conduct market surveys immediately and remove the defective batch of the supply chain. Health care professionals, veterinarians, farmers, and distributors were asked to remain vigilant and report any stock of the mentioned product that is still in circulation.

Consumers and farmers were also notified of the product not using the product. If any harmful effects are observed in the animals treated with the Zaktyl-20, it is looking to contact the veterinary career or health care immediately.

The summons confirms the ongoing efforts made by DRAP to enhance organizational control and ensure the safety and effectiveness of medicines, especially those used in the veterinary sector.
