Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney prepared on Thursday against the comments made by former US President Donald Trump, who said he did not want Canadian cars and suggested raising the definitions of car imports from Canada.
Speaking in British Colombia before the general elections on Monday, Carney Trump was accused of trying to break the position of Canada in the automotive industry in North America.
“He said he does not want Canada to play any role in the auto industry in North America. So, I will be equally clear: this is Canada – we decide what is happening here,” Carney said during the campaign event.
In his speech to correspondents on Wednesday, Trump warned that the current tariff of 25 % on Canadian cars that enter the United States can increase, raising new concerns about trade tensions and influencing the auto sector in Canada.
