Karachi: The Pakistani Council for Foreign Relations (PCFR), Crachi and the General Consulate of the People’s Republic of China hosted a joint symposium on “Chinese modernization and Pakistani -Chinese relations” at the Chinese consulate Karachi. The symposium was organized to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the visit of President Xi Jinping to Pakistan. The event was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps, government officials, the business community, academics and members of PCFR.
Yang Yundong, the Consul General of China in Karachi, received the guests worthy of his welcome address. Consul General Yundong said that President Sheh’s historic visit to Pakistan seemed to be in a new chapter in traditional friendship and bilateral relations between the two countries. He emphasized that the modernization of China has constantly strengthened high -quality development, joining Pakistan on the road towards common prosperity, progressing together, and strengthening each other mutually.
Erfan Somero, General Manager of the Communication Office abroad, said Koratchi while presenting his observations on this issue, in a world where the old policy has become, that the most polarized approach to modernization of China has led to equal growth opportunities for all nations. He also said that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a promise to build the nation and joint progress.
Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, the former governor bank and the Minister of Finance in Pakistan, also spoke on this occasion. Dr. Akhtar said that China imagines a world of permanent peace and that the Chinese modernization is not just progress, but it enhances collective progress, and dedicated partnership with other countries. She said that CPC contributed to infrastructure, energy and commercial development in Pakistan.
Dr. Akhtar also said that the regular visits and agreements have strengthened the partnership, as both sides contributed to cooperation in areas including regional security, trade and economic development.
Ambassador Gr Baluch highlighted the rise of China as a technical power and its effects around the world. Ambassador Baloch confirmed that China today is one of the main players in modern technologies including 5G, AI and Semiconductors. The technological rise in China pushed positive and negative responses from other countries. Ambassador Balosh also noted that in this era of technology, China can lead the world “a global moral charter to use artificial intelligence and emerging technologies” with the support of United Nations resolutions.
Ambassador Hassan Habib also spoke on this occasion. Ambassador Habib said that the Chinese update can be tracked into two phases, first under Ding Xiaoping and the second during the era of President Xi Jinping. Ambassador Habib emphasized that the Chinese modernization had deep and broad effects on Asia, and the formation of economic, political and geopolitical dynamics throughout the region. He pointed out that Pakistan- a nearby neighbor and a friend of China- has benefited greatly from projects under CPEC and technology support in the agricultural sector. He said that the recent definitions imposed by the United States have raised concerns all over the world, Pakistan and other Asians, exploring deeper economic relations with China to alleviate the impact of American definitions.
Professor Zhang Ggen from the University of Vodan, Shanghai, participated in the symposium through the video link. Professor Zhang said that in 2012, the Chinese update entered into a new era not only a way to achieve national renewal but also represents a great opportunity for joint development between China and the rest of the world. CPEC- The pioneering project of Berine presented Pakistan opportunities to benefit from the Chinese update. He emphasized that CPEC is not only an economic corridor, but rather an integrated program for the economic rise of Pakistan.
Zubair Tufail, PCFR president, thanks for making final notes and appreciating all the participants for their valuable contributions to the discussion. Tufail said that the Chinese modernization feels largely in the West, especially in the United States. He stated that the United States’ reaction to the modernization of China is more than normal. He also said that Pakistan and China are long standing with each of them and supporting each other in every situation. We have a stake in the future with mutual respect, growth and progress. The event was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps, businessmen, academics and researchers.
