BYD, BYD, started building the first passenger factory in Cambodia, according to a statement issued by the Chinese embassy in the country.
The new facility, located in the Sihanokville Special Economic Zone, will extend over 120,000 square meters and has an annual production capacity of 10,000 vehicles. The operations are expected to start by the end of this year, the administration of the region announced on the official WeChat account on Monday.
In the first quarter of 2025, BYD received approximately 1,000 new requests from Cambodia, highlighting the increasing demand for electrical mobility in the region.
