In an attempt to achieve the goals of its revenues for the current fiscal year, the federal government has increased the PLO (PL) by 18.02 rupees per liter of gasoline and 17.01 rupees per liter of high -speed diesel (HSD), since March 16, 2025.
The updated oil tax is now 78.02 rupees per liter of gasoline and 77.01 rupees per liter of high -speed diesel.
Before this amendment, the maximum tax on 4 rupees per liter was determined, which was later raised to 70 rupees per liter in the current federal budget. However, in the aftermath of the issuance of a presidential decree, the tax amount is now not exploited, allowing further adjustments in the future.
The revised tax measures of the government come amid efforts to secure additional revenues for the fiscal year. New rates are expected to bring about 300 billion rupees annually. In the current two weeks starting from May 1, previous gasoline prices for gasoline and HSD were calculated at 1.40 rupees and 1.93 rupees per liter, respectively, reflecting the RS2 reduction per liter on both producers.
The government has also modified margin related ingredients, including the IFEM. The IFem gasoline decreased by 59 PAISA, from 6.89 rupees to 6.30 rupees per liter, while HSD has seen 26 PAISA reduction, from 3.59 rupees to 3.33 rupees per liter.
Despite these amendments, the oil tax on both gasoline and HSD remained unchanged from the previous two weeks on April 30, 2025. Both producers are still exempt from the public sales tax.
