Ryan Johnson recently told Business Insider while promoting “Poker Face”, the second season, that he wanted to release the following movie “Knives Out”, “Wake Up Dead Man”, in the largest possible number of movie theaters. Whether Netflix recognizes this desire later this year it still should be seen. Johnson’s interview came in the wake of the CEO of Netflix Ted Sarandos, which sparked online controversy by describing the “outdated” movie theater model.
“It is clear that I do not agree with that,” Johnson said when he was asked to respond to Sarandus’s comment. “I love movies. I like to go to watch movies. But also, I have a feeling of talking to TED, it will be different from one quote captured and some kind of ejaculation in this context. So, I do not want to express it because I have a discussion discussion with TED here.”
“I think the play is not going anywhere,” the director added, referring to the last success in films such as “Sin” and “Minecraft”. Johnson added: “We have seen whether you have put films they want to see in theaters, they will attend this, and that experience is to be in a full house and that you enjoy this experience is very important. It is something I love and want more of it in the world,” Johnson added.
Johnson’s comments come after Sarandos appeared at the Time100 summit last month, and they pointed out, “We are in a transitional period. People grew up,” I want to make movies on a giant screen and make strangers watch them (and to get them) in the theater for two months, and people crying and selling offers. “… it is an old concept.”
When asked specifically whether the desire of filmmakers who want to make films “for cinematic theaters, for societal experience” is a “normal idea”, Sarandos said, “I think it – for most people, not for everyone.
Netflix broke his inner imitation of “Glass Onion: A Cknives Out Mystery” for 2022, partnership with major theater chains like AMC for the first time to give Johnson supplement a broader theatrical version. The film was operated in 600 movies in the country for about a week before its launch. Netflix has not explained a similar deal with a major theater series since then, although it is cooperating with Imax to give “Chronicles of Narnia” from Greta Gerwig in “Chronicles of Narnia” in 2026 on Thanksgiving Day. “Narnia” will play on IMAX screens for two weeks and then for the first time on Christmas Day on Netflix.
“I want this in many theaters as long as possible,” Johnson said about the movie “knives outside” the third. “We will pay for everything we can get in terms of play, because I want the largest possible number of people to see it in this way.”
“Wake up Dead Man: A CRNITES OUT Mystery” again written and directed by Johnson. Daniel Craig returns to the position of Detective Benno Blanck for a new ambiguity that includes the members of the Josh Okunor team, Jalin Klose, Josh Brolin, Mila Konis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Kylie Spain, Daril McCormak, and Thomas Haden. The film was first appointed in the fall.
