Pakistan has carried out a ban on Indian transport companies from using its ports, which represents a major escalation in continuous diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
The move comes as a revenge measure after India’s actions against Pakistan following a deadly attack in the occupied Kashmir.
The decision, announced by the Pakistani Ministry of Naval Affairs, is prohibited from the Indian flag ships from reaching the Pakistani ports. It also extends to Pakistani transport companies, which will no longer be allowed to visit Indian ports.
The Pakistani authorities indicated that any ban on prohibitions will be evaluated on the basis of each case separately. The Ministry cited the protection of Pakistani naval sovereignty, economic interests and national security as reasons behind this decision.
This recent development follows a series of mutual measures, including India’s restrictions on the entry of Pakistani ships that are being implemented to their ports. In addition, India has taken measures to protect its marine assets and infrastructure by preventing Pakistani ships.
The increasing stress between the two countries has led to increased interests in the turmoil in trade and regional stability.
Commercial relations between Pakistan and India have already decreased for several years. The prohibition on access to the port is the latest in a series of reprisals that led to almost almost approximate cuts of economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries.
In addition to the port restrictions, India also banned imports from Pakistan and suspended the exchanging mail and parcels received. These measures imposed the General Directorate of Foreign Trade in India in the name of National Security and Public Policy.
Pakistan, in turn, responded by stopping all border trade, closing the airspace on Indian transport companies, and expelling Indian diplomats.
This diplomatic confrontation raised concerns about the broader influence on trade and economic relations between the two countries, while intensifying the efforts made by both sides to protect their national interests. With the development of the situation, industry experts closely monitor to assess the possible long -term consequences for regional trade and shipping industries.
