The film is located on Omar Island, off the coast of Germany, in the spring of 1945. In the last days of the war, Nanning, 12, swings at the treacherous sea to search for seals, hunting at night, and works on the nearby farm to help his mother feed the family. Despite the hardship, life on the beautiful island and the wind is almost similar to heaven. But when peace comes finally, he reveals a deeper threat: the enemy is much closer than he imagined.
The film depends on the childhood of German actor, writer and director Hark Poh, who wrote the original scenario, which was rewritten and directed by Akin.
In a statement, AKIN talked about cinematic effects on the film.
