Karachi:
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) announced that all flights at the International Jinnah Airport in Karachi will remain suspended until 12 am tonight due to “operational reasons”.
The statement, which was issued on Thursday evening, follows a previous consultant in which PAA said flights at Karachi, Lahore and Sialkot airports hanging until midday. While Lahore and Cutut resumed partial activity, Karachi Airport remains impractical for the rest of the day.
“Passengers are required to stay in contact with their airlines for information related to their flights,” PAA advised.
Separately, Pakistani International Airlines (PIA) issued a statement indicating that air operations worldwide are affected by the current security situation. He said that the air roads specified temporarily as a precautionary measure to protect national airlines and ensure passenger safety.
“This closure is carried out in the interest of aviation safety,” he added.
Earlier this week, a laser light ban was imposed near Karachi Airport to address aviation safety concerns, as regional tensions escalated. Travelers are advised to monitor updates from airlines and airport authorities with the development of the situation.
