With the escalation of tensions between Pakistan and India, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) expressed its hope for a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflict.
In a statement, a spokesman for the International Monetary Fund called for the abolition of tensions, saying: “We hope that issues between Pakistan and India will be resolved safely and that the tensions calm down.”
The International Monetary Fund also confirmed that its CEO will meet on May 9 to review Pakistan’s request for financial assistance. During this meeting, the International Monetary Fund will evaluate the progress made by Pakistan within the framework of the economic reform program, which is still a major condition for the country’s financial support.
The International Monetary Fund has repeated its commitment to helping Pakistan in its efforts to achieve stability and enhance its economy.
The call to peace comes at a time when tensions between Pakistan and India reach new horizons after missile strikes in India in six cities in Pakistan on May 6, killing 31 civilians and wounding more than 50.
