Haley Perry revealed during the press conference the jury at the Cannes Festival that she had to make a change at the last minute due to the new rules issued by the festival on the red carpet. Immediately before the start of the 2025 festival, the Cannes organizers announced that the event will prohibit nudity and “excessive” clothes. The dresses with long trains and other features that can block the carpet are no longer permitted.
“I had an amazing dress from Gupta that I could not wear tonight because it is very big from the train,” Perry said about her search for the opening night party tonight. “I will not break the rules. The nudity part may also be a good base.”
The Cannes Festival issued a statement on Monday, May 12, when it detailed the rules of the new red carpet. The festival said that the red carpet changes were compatible with the “institutional framework” of the Cannes Film Festival and French Law.
“This year, the Cannes Film Festival in its charter showed some of the rules that have been in effect for a long time. The aim is to not organize clothes in itself, but to prohibit the full nudity of the red carpet, according to the institutional framework of the event and French law,” said new instructions from the festival.
“It reserves the right to refuse to reach individuals whose clothes can hinder the movement of other guests or the complexity of sitting arrangements in the examination rooms.”
Perry works on the competition jury for this year, along with the “Caliphate” winner of the Emmy Jeremy Strong Prize, “All we imagine as rays” Payal Capadia, South Korean director Hong Sangsu, Italian actor Alba Rohrouk, and French arms writer Luila. Juliet Pinosh is supervised by jury as a president.
