After months of declining internet speeds, telecommunications in Pakistan has returned to full capacity, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
According to reports, the slowdown was due to problems with the Southeast Asia, Middle East, and Western Europe 4 (SMW4) and Asia, Africa, and Europe 1 (AAE-1) submarine cables, which have now been fixed.
As a result of the repair work, the 1750 Gbps bandwidth shortfall has been restored to its full speed. These disturbances began in June and continued with another fault in August.
Pakistan is set to further enhance its digital infrastructure by integrating the Pakistan East Africa Express Cable (PEACE) system within the year, which will significantly increase internet bandwidth in the country.
In addition, over the next two years, the introduction of three new cables, including two from Transworld International and one from PTCL, will further enhance connectivity.
