Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Audu has raised serious concerns about criminals infiltrating the private security sector, warning that the issue has escalated into a national “cancer”.

Speaking at the inauguration of an advanced surveillance project with eight new security cameras around the Chinese consulate, Oddo called for stricter laws to address this worrying trend.

Audo stated that the Ministry of Interior is planning new legislation to tighten regulations on private security companies, with an emphasis on the importance of accountability.

He said that if security company owners fail to act responsibly in vetting guards, they could face criminal charges.

According to Odo, intelligence agencies, including Special Branch and the Intelligence Bureau, are already investigating these violations.

In a bid to enforce law and order, the Additional IG also noted that strict action is being taken against illegal modifications to vehicles, including tinted windows, fancy license plates and public display of firearms.

Over the past week, nearly 6,000 traffic tickets were issued, 940 cases were registered, and several vehicles were confiscated as part of the authorities’ crackdown on non-compliance.
