KARACHI: On the occasion of Iqbal Day, a poetry session was organized at the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran Karachi in memory of the martyrs of Jerusalem Ismail Haniyeh, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Sayyed Hashem Safi al-Din, Yahya Sanwar and thousands of other martyrs. Palestine and Lebanon. The ceremony was attended by Azad Iqbal, grandson of Allama Iqbal, Saeed Talebi Nia, Chairman of Khana Farhang Iran, Dr. Hossein Pour and Dr. Adel Khani, distinguished guests from Iran, and a large number of prominent local figures. Poets and social and cultural figures. The session began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, then the national anthems of Iran and Pakistan.

Dr. Saeed Talebi Nia, President of Khana Farhang Iran Karachi, while delivering the welcome speech, thanked the guests of the event, especially Azad Iqbal, Dr. Hossein Pour and Dr. Adeel Khani for their presence.

He said: It is a matter of honor and pride for Khan Farhang Iran Karachi that Mr. Azad Iqbal, the grandson of the great poet of the Levant, Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, participates in this conference. He added: I hope that the participation of well-known poets and scholars and reciting their poems in this gathering will strengthen the message and goal of the Mujahideen of Palestine and Lebanon.

Azad Iqbal said in his speech before the conference: In my opinion, it is necessary these days to spread Iqbal’s message and thought to liberate the Muslim community from mental slavery. This is the basic responsibility of Muslim writers and intellectuals.

He added: The oppressed peoples of Palestine and Lebanon are suffering from the ugliest types of cruelty and brutality that have caused the massacre of thousands of innocent men, women and even young children. Under these circumstances, Allama Muhammad Iqbal said that Western powers first alienated Muslims from their religion, and then succeeded in controlling them.

He also said: Allama Iqbal used to say that if the Jews have the right to rule the land of Palestine, then why do Muslims not have the right to rule Spain?

Dr. Hosseinpour praised the efforts of Khan Farhang of Iran and the prominent poets of Karachi in organizing the conference in memory of the Palestinian and Lebanese martyrs. He said: It is a great honor for me to participate in this gathering between the respected figures of Pakistani poetry who are here to support the oppressed peoples of Palestine and Lebanon.

At this conference, about 30 prominent poets praised the martyrs of Palestine and Lebanon and strongly condemned Israel and global imperialism. About 120 poets from Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, Quetta, Qom and Canberra, Australia, participated in the poetry competition, submitting 174 poems and ghazals in Urdu, Persian and English.
