Singapore’s Momo Film Co and Taiwan’s Aview Images team talk about the new features trendy blogger

Taiwanese production company Aview Images has partnered with Singapore’s Momo Film Co to co-produce two upcoming films – Nelson Yu’s “The Drought” and Daniel Hui’s “Other People’s Dreams”.

“Drought,” Liu’s sophomore film, explores family dynamics and personal conflicts against the backdrop of an uninhabitable drought. The project marks the reunion between Yeo and Momo Film Co after his debut “Dreaming & Dying,” which won Golden Leopard – Filmmaker of the Present and Best First Film at Locarno 2023.

Hui’s “Other People’s Dreams” follows two people fleeing their pasts through Singapore, finding survival through theft as they blend into the city’s nocturnal rhythm. The project won a co-production grant at the recently concluded QCinema Project Market, the industry platform of the QCinema International Film Festival in the Philippines.

Momo boasts a diverse slate of films that also includes “At the Edge of the Sea,” the feature film debut of Anh Le, who produced the 2023 Cannes Prize-winning “Inside The Yellow Cocoon Shell,” an absurdist thriller set in… In Vietnam. A drama in which men begin to contract a strange disease; “Ria” from new Filipino director Arvin Belarmino will examine how a folk punk woman helps her chronically ill foster mother while advocating for their punk community. and “Leaving, Staying” from Danish San in Cambodia, where a girl disappears after visiting a soldier she met online.

The partnership comes in the wake of the recent successes of both companies. Aview Images’ co-production “Tale of the Land” won the Fipresci Award at the 2024 Busan International Film Festival, while Momo Film’s “Don’t Cry, Butterfly” premiered at Venice Critics’ Week 2024, where it received an award. Two awards.
