The divisional round of Major League Baseball’s 2024 playoffs is in full swing and the New York Mets are one win away from reaching the NLCS. The Mets returned to Citi Field on Tuesday for the first time in 16 days and beat the Philadelphia Phillies to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five series. The four best-of-five series were tied after the second game.marking the first time this has happened in MLB postseason history. The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers face off in Game 3 of their series Tuesday night in the other NLDS, while the ALDS matchups have a day off.
These two American League series – Guardians vs. Tigers and Yankees vs. Royals – resume Wednesday in Detroit and Kansas City, respectively, as part of a jam-packed four-game day.
In last week’s Wild Card Series, the Tigers eliminated the Houston Astros, while the Royals eliminated the Baltimore Orioles. The two AL Central underdogs won the best-of-three series in two road games. The Astros saw their streak of seven consecutive ALCS appearances come to an end, while the Orioles are now 0-5 in the postseason over the last two seasons.
In the Netherlands, in the wild-card round, the Padres took care of business and swept the Atlanta Braves. The Mets, meanwhile, won their first playoff series since making the World Series since 2015, beating the Milwaukee Brewers in the only deciding game of the round.
The League Championship Series will begin on Sunday, October 13, and the World Series will begin on either Tuesday, October 22 or Friday, October 25. 2024 MLB Postseason Schedule.
