IslamabadPrime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan’s IT exports could exceed twenty-five billion dollars through better
Exploiting resources and providing training and education to the workforce.

He chaired a review meeting on reforms in the IT sector in Islamabad and directed the Higher Education Commission to draw up a roadmap for provision
Education, training and skills of international standards for young people.

He pointed out that there is a demand for Pakistani IT experts in the Gulf countries and proposals related to this should be implemented soon.

He expressed his appreciation for the proposed strategy for IT sector reforms, and said that he would personally supervise its implementation.

The Prime Minister directed to set clear goals to increase information technology exports and set specific time frames for each measure.

Shehbaz Sharif directed the formation of a committee to implement reforms in the IT sector and enhance cooperation between various institutions.

The meeting was informed that the goal over the next five years is to achieve fifteen billion dollars from IT sector exports, one billion dollars from telecommunications exports, and ten billion dollars from digitization.

The meeting was informed that Pakistan’s global ranking in e-government has improved by fourteen places. 2,500 new IT companies were registered and Pakistan’s IT ranking improved from seventy-nine to forty.

The meeting also reviewed the proposed plan to facilitate financial transfers for young people associated with the information technology sector, especially self-employed workers. The Prime Minister praised this initiative with regard to international payment gateways and issued instructions to quickly implement it.
