IslamabadOn Monday, Pakistan and Belarus signed eight memorandums of understanding
Understandings (MoUs) and major trade agreements, aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations. It was signed during the Pakistan-Belarus Business Forum.
Federal Trade Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Belarusian Energy Minister Alexei
Kushnarenko witnessed the signing of these documents between the two sides.
The signed agreements include a five-year distribution and cooperation agreement between JCS Bellakt and Nutrifood & Pharmaceuticals and a supply agreement for cooperation between JSC Minsk Motor Plant and Shahzad Trade Links for the supply of products in 2025.
Also Memorandum of Intent between JSC Belshina and Shahzad Trade Links for sale of tires in Pakistani market and Veterinary Medicines Supply Contract Agreement between JSC BelVitunipharm and Mustafa Brothers.
A memorandum of understanding for logistics cooperation between RUE Beltamozhservice and the National Logistics Corporation and a memorandum of understanding for pharmaceutical cooperation between RUE Beltamozhservice and Bio Medical System for registration and supply of pharmacies were also signed.
Meanwhile, on this occasion, a Metal Supply Contract between JSC Beltsvetmet and Raas International Trading for 2025 and a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of agricultural machinery between JSC Tractor Works and Green Corporate Initiative were also signed.
Addressing the forum, Jam Kamal Khan stressed the need to boost bilateral trade between Pakistan and Belarus through trade diversification, stressing the untapped potential in sectors such as food, pharmaceuticals, textiles, logistics and energy.
He stressed that the current trade volume does not reflect the economic capabilities of the two countries.
Before the forum, a fruitful side meeting was held between Jam Kamal Khan and Alexei Kushnarenko to determine the course of the day. During the meeting, the two ministers discussed ways of bilateral cooperation and agreed to form working groups for cooperation in the field of energy and industry.
They also decided to participate in two upcoming events: the FoodAg Conference on Processing in Lahore in February 2025 and the Russian Industrial Forum in Belarus in June 2025.
Jam Kamal Khan extended an official invitation to Kushnarenko to attend the FoodAg event.
Addressing the forum, Minister Alexei Kushnarenko emphasized the strong demand for Belarusian products, such as agricultural machinery, industrial goods and dairy products, in Pakistan.
He noted the mutual interest in Pakistani light industrial goods and food products in Belarus.
“The current cooperation potential allows us to set and achieve ambitious goals to strengthen economic, trade and humanitarian relations between our countries,” Kushnarenko said.
He expressed his confidence in the forum’s promotion of new joint projects in the fields of trade, industrial production, agriculture, healthcare and education.
Jam Kamal Khan praised the growing relationship between Pakistan and Belarus, citing
Integration between their economies.
He stressed the need to reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers to enable meaningful access to markets.
He added: “This forum reflects the joint commitment to strengthening our trade and investment relations.”
The Minister also highlighted the long-standing diplomatic relations between the two countries, including high-level visits and mutual participation in international forums such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Kamal admitted that Belarusian tractors are a household name in Pakistan, symbolizing durability and strength.
He called for expanding this cooperation to include other sectors, including agricultural machinery and the automobile industry.
Moreover, he highlighted Pakistan’s potential as a trade and transit hub, given its large population and rich natural resources.
With the signing of these agreements and discussions at the business forum, the two sides expressed their optimism about achieving new horizons in bilateral trade and investment.
The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining momentum by exploring additional opportunities and overcoming existing challenges.
This forum represents another step forward in the journey of strengthening Pakistan-Belarus relations, and presents a shared vision for economic growth and regional connectivity.
