Ignacio Lasierra Pinto’s debut feature film “Perseidas”, scheduled for Proyecta’s upcoming Ventana Sur sidebar of Featured Projects, has successfully selected an all-star Spanish cast.) “Pershayat” tells the story of a famous Spanish chef who returns from Uruguay to Spain to attend her mother’s funeral. The story explores paths of reconciliation through family and focuses on reversing prejudiced behaviors that still exist in small towns.
“When we read the script, we absolutely fell in love with the story and the characters,” LaPorta says. “We were particularly moved by the narrative, which deals with the return home and the reconciliation between mother and daughter from a very emotional perspective.
“We believe that by working from emotional authenticity, a level of universality is achieved that allows feelings, such as reunion and forgiveness, to be expressed in a way that is emotional and can touch a chord in any corner of the world.” added the producer.
Many of the film’s scenes will be shot in La Sierra’s hometown of Candasnos, a village of no more than 300 people in Aragon’s Los Mongros Desert.
“There is an entire generation that grew up as teenagers in the 1990s in these rural areas and was forced to migrate,” La Sierra said. “Just as in the mid-20th century, we left the villages in search of a future that offered more possibilities. I encapsulated the film’s main character in this light.

“Perseidas” also marks the debut of Laporta and her Aragon-based brand Lago&Laporta. She is joined by her partner Aurora Lago Villalon and veteran producer Luis Ángel Ramírez at Imval Producciones. The two companies will produce the film together.
“I immediately fell in love with ‘Perseidas’ when I first discovered it in the project incubator of the Advanced Technology Center of Aragon,” Ramírez recalls. “It is artistically ambitious and commercially attractive due to the universal nature of its story and the personalities of its director and producers. Prior to its upcoming visit to Ventana Sur, the project participated in the Abycine Lanza and VLC Pitch Labs in Spain as well as the Mallorca Talent Lab, winning the award for Best Feature Project in the latter.
“Perseidas” is scheduled to be filmed in late 2025 or early 2026, and the film is scheduled to debut later that year.
